Job Description:

Position Title:            Nursing Supervisor

Reports To:              Medical Supervisor

Supervises:               Nurses

Date:                       December 05, 2006

Classification:           Part-Time Permanent Hourly

Position Summary:  Oversee Nursing Department, including monitoring of care and reviews. Evaluate quality of care given. Maintains regulatory integrity of procedures. Other duties as needed.   Dispense

Key Duties/Expectations:

1. Supervise the dispensing and accounting og the methadone. Be accountable for deliveries, calibration of the dispensing system and dispensing log.

2. Supervise and evalutate quality of Nursing care. Work with Nurses to create Individual Development Plans for future professional development.

3. Orient new Nursing Staff and teach existing staff new techniques.

4. Participate in Staff Trainings and Clinical Staffings as needed.

5. Sit on CQI, Leadership, and CARF Accreditation committees.

6. Dispense Methadone or give client care as needed.

Core Competencies:

1. Substance Abuse medicine with experience in Methadone Dispensing and Accounting.

2. Organizational and supervisory skills.  Detail-oriented.

3. Knowledge of Infectious Disease and other Medical issues common to this population.

4. Accurate record-keeping and quality check of staff record-keeping for methadone dispensing, transcription of physicians’ orders, and preparation of bottles for dispensing.

5. Familiarity with computer dispensing systems.

6. Recognizes physical signs consistent with substance use disorders.

Required Skills and Credentials: Minimum RN Nurse, currently licensed in Illinois with at least two years experience in Methadone Dispensing and Accounting..  Must be CPR certified.
